Originally started in 2010 as a side project, L’Avenir has now become my main creative focus. The music of L’Avenir is rooted in the tradition of minimal electro and cold wave music of the late 70′s and early 80′s ala Fad Gadget, Nine Circles, Depeche, D.A.F. etc. In the mid 2000′s this genre, which has since been coined “Minimal Wave” by Veronica Vasicka, has seen a revival in the underground music scene in the States and Europe. Having grown up in the 80′s, I was a huge fan of synth pop and dark 80′s electronic music. Therefore, shifting my musical practice into direction made a lot sense to me within the context of where my ambient music had been headed at the time. Also, by channeling the exploration of traditional musical structure into the L’Avenir project, I’m equally as excited to begin experimenting with pure electronic space again through future releases under my own name.
L’Avenir releases on limited edition vinyl, cd, cassette and digital formats are now available through the L’Avenir Bandcamp, EINS:ZWEI:ACHT and Cold Beats Records.
