Week Ten/Eleven

Project 3 is due next week. Please come to class with your work ready to install and critique. I will be documenting each piece with the Ambisonic Recorder.

– Today we will demo the Live Surround Panner device for Ableton. This will allow you to set arrange your quadraphonic set up and begin to move your audio around the room and position it in the quad speaker array.

– You can download the Surround Panner Live Device here.
**Make sure you’re using the Ableton Live Suite. The Panner device won’t work in the Standard or Lite versions of Ableton.

– I’ve also made a cheat sheet that will help you set up your Surround Panner in the installation room. Download it here.

– Finally, for the couple of you using a PC. You’ll need to download the driver for the audio interface. Without the driver installed you’ll only be able to output 2 channels max, not 4. You can download the installer here. Be sure to set your PC’s audio sound card preference to “ASIO” in the system Sound/Audio preferences.

Week Six

– Today we will begin our Immersive Sound Walks. Please come ready to begin at the start of class. Be sure to have your headphones, all the pieces loaded onto your mobile device and make sure your device is fully charged. I emailed a download link to the class on Sunday, but in case you missed it, you can access the audio files on the Downloads page.
